Q&A

Q. HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU STARTED PLAYING?

A. I started playing lacrosse when I was about five years old. Both of my parents played Division I, so I was groomed well at a young age!

Q. WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE ATHLETE (ANY SPORT) GROWING UP?

A. My all-time favorite athlete is Ray Lewis. Growing up in Baltimore, I was a huge Ravens fan, and attended just about every home game from 2004 to 2008. Ray's passion for the sport, leadership qualities, and tenacity were all attributes I admired in him.

Q. WHAT WAS YOUR PLAY HUGE MOMENT IN YOUR CAREER?

A. A defining moment for me was early on in my freshman year at UNC. We were playing on the road at the Naval Academy and I came off the bench to score four goals. It felt great to play well in front of family and friends that came to support me in my home state.

Q. WHAT SONG IS ALWAYS ON YOUR PREGAME PLAY LIST?

A. My playlist is usually switching from rap to house music pregame. "Warning" by Notorious BIG and "2night" by Eric Prydz always get me fired up.

Q. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?

A. Favorite movie of all time is The Shawshank Redemption

Q. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNGER VERSION OF YOURSELF?

A. 1.) Play more wall ball 2.) Don't be afraid to make mistakes

Q. WHO IS ONE PERSON (PAST OR PRESENT) WITH WHOM YOU’D LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH?

A. I think John Daly would share some good stories over dinner

Q. WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU’D LIKE TO SEE CHANGED IN YOUR SPORT?

A. I'd like to see more consistent rules. At every level it seems the rules are changed, which is unlike any other sport. No question there should be a shot clock in lacrosse, starting at the college level: 90 seconds once you pick the ball up

Q. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE TEAMMATE YOU’VE EVER PLAYED WITH?

A. Tough question, I've played with so many guys that have made me better. At the top of that list: Davey Emala, Joey Sankey, Sean Delaney, Steele Stanwick & Tom Schreiber.

Q. WHO IS OR WAS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN HELPING YOU ON YOUR WAY TO BECOME A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE?

A. No doubt my father, Brian. He's an unbelievable lacrosse coach, but of much more importance, he is a great father. His ability to motivate and inspire is second to none in the lacrosse community.

Q. DESCRIBE YOUR PLAYING STYLE IN 3 WORDS

A. Relentless, Energetic, Smart

Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EXERCISE OR DRILL TO DO WHILE YOU’RE TRAINING ANY WHY?

A. The speed ladder and wall ball are two things I am constantly working on. Hands and feet!

Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PRE-GAME MEAL?

A. I'm not picky. Let's go with grilled chicken, broccoli, and a cookie for dessert.

Q. TELL US YOUR FAVORITE MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE?

A. "Champions are made from something deep inside them: a desire, a dream, a vision." Muhammad Ali

Q. IF YOU COULD PLAY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD IT BE?

A. Lacrosse has taken me places I never imagined. Hawaii, Salt Lake City, Amsterdam & Prague to name a few. Has anyone ever played catch at the Great Wall of China? Think I just got an idea for my next adventure...
